And to be honest? They are not wrong because what kind of emotional rollercoaster did I not experience this year? Going from "Heated" by Beyoncé to "So Will I" by Hillsong Worship, and then to "Anti-Hero" by Taylor Swift – it's safe to say my playlist was a wild ride
.When Spotify Wrapped unveiled my "results," I bursted out laughing. Shocking, yet not entirely surprising. I did that to myself.
What added an extra layer of surprise was not finding BTS as my top artist. Instead, another artist took the lead. Unexpected, but then again, I did listen to THE ROSE's music throughout the year. I have a feeling that Spotify only tracks your data for the first few months of the year and then just ignores the rest cause I could swear I listened to Beyonce more than I did any other artist. (Beyonce call me, I love you)
I’ve always loved Spotify Wrapped, it feels like that musical report card you get at the end of the year to show how heartbroken, sad, depressed, or happy you were at one time in the year. Let’s just ignore the fact that they are also kinda tracking our data hahahaweirdhahaha
It’s mind-boggling how we’ve reached the end of the year. Wasn't it just January last week? It feels like we're in one of those years that runs for no apparent reason – slow down, girl, I'm not in a hurry!
I vividly recall taking a late evening stroll with my sister in the last week of December 2022, discussing our goals for 2023. I mentioned not having any specific goals for 2023; all I wanted was to be happier – something that was absent in my life in 2021 and 2022.
And for some reason, it felt like God was listening because 2023 turned out to be a mentally uplifting year for me. I was happier. I found happiness by worrying less about trivial matters and consciously choosing joy repeatedly.
And I’m beyond grateful to God for that.
Unlike 2023, I plan to set yearly goals for 2024, breaking them down bi-monthly so it doesn’t overwhelm me. I'm working towards achieving a few things before I clock 30 because I’m a simple girl. I don’t want much in life except to be successful and happy. We’re all going to go to that other place someday and life isn’t worth stressing over (ouch, sorry for that reminder.)
(Also what do you mean by 30? Hold up a little Tosin… not so fast omg)
A tweet from Document Women kept popping up on my Twitter fyp, celebrating women's achievements. Ironically, the only thing I related to was this other tweet, because lol… let’s just thank God for life.
I think the only thing I rejected this year was my age because I don’t know who entered their late 20s but it was not me. Do I look 27 to you? No, think about it for a second.
We clicked 23 for the fourth time this year, and as crazy as that was, it was intriguing. 23 has always been THAT year – the realization that you're an adult, making decisions, experiencing regrets, falling in and out of love, and realizing how much you hate the world.
I know what you’re about to say but idk maybe just… don’t say it?
Next year, we're clocking 25 like we’re jumping from 23 to 25. Not everyone can do that but look at us, doing the impossible.
25 is going to be OUR year! We'll move mountains, break boundaries, spend wisely, make more money, and maybe… just maybe, find love. Can I get an Amen? Amen!
I don’t know why I started writing in “first person” but you get it.
Here's to living our best lives in 2024 because we deserve all the good things. Cheers!
Thank you for reading once again! This should have been out last week but I couldn’t drop it because I wasn’t feeling it lol but here it is anyway.
Not that you asked or anything but here is my Spotify playlist of my top songs in 2023.
Joy's Spotify Wrapped (Top Songs of 2023)
Give it a listen and you will understand why Spotify called me a vampire💀
See you next week, or this week, or whenever.
Love🤍
